I can’t think straight. She’s always on my mind. We’ve been in a committed relationship since 2001.
While driving to her place, weekly, my heart flutters. A centrifugal force takes hold. I’m not proud to say. But, sometimes I cheat and visit other locations within 30 miles.
As I wildly turn into the parking lot, my palms begin to sweat. Eye popping treasures await beyond the store’s front door.
I lace up my sneakers and grab a bottle of water. God only knows how many hours I will be sequestered inside.
“I run down the aisles like it’s Black Friday.”
Hello, Home Goods! I’m back!!! This is my absolutely favorite home decor store. A menagerie of happiness!!
Gorgeous Indian fabric footstools, eclectic lamps, area rugs, metal wall art, seasonal wreaths and acrylic storage boxes turn my head. Do I really need all this stuff? No!!! But, that’s half the fun. Talking myself out of it. I usually lose!
For those folks who have been asleep under their IPad’s, Home Goods, a national retail chain, is a home decorator’s dream.
Unique finds from all around the globe and high end designer goods that don’t break the bank.
It is my home away from home: part store, part group therapy session.
And, a decent place to use the bathroom when nature calls.
There are male sightings, but, it’s primarily a female dominated hub where the decorating challenged can seek advice from seasoned shoppers in a non-hostile environment.
If your wife is AWOL, fellas, don’t panic. She’s probably at Home Goods loading up the cart with more bath towels and elephant shaped toothbrush holders.
“Yes, I am an addict. And, I’m okay with that. There are worse things than a backseat full of lotions, wine glasses, fake plants and pillows.”
You see, I love pretty things. And, I love making my home cozy.
It really doesn’t matter whether home is an apartment, condo or house. Where we live, is a reflection of who we are. Why not make it relaxing and welcoming? My home is my safe haven from a hectic world.
Put your imprint on your own space. What is your personal style?
I am very informal. I love shabby chic. And, anything with sparkles. I am attracted to vivid colors like turquoise, orange and yellow that evoke energy and personality.
“My place is lit like St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.”
Hands down, my favorite home décor accessory are candles. I never have enough. They’re everywhere!
Romantic, warm and intimate.
Several years ago, my best friend, Brenda visited from Michigan. She loved my five foot tall vintage oak cabinet in my living room. She opened the doors. Much to her surprise, it was a holding center for about fifty candles, all sizes and fragrances. She walked away and shook her head in disbelief. I’m ready for any power outages for myself and my neighbors.
My daughter-in- law, Nicole, made my day when she informed me that Home Goods has a sister store, Home Sense, that just opened in Hanover, New Jersey. Ninety minutes away. I hear it is bigger and better. I can barely breathe. Time to gas up and hit the road!
I love home goods too. I found a gorgeous rug for my living room for a fraction of the price there. Because of my cats I cannot have too many chochkies,I like a more minimalist look. It only took me 10 years to finally decorate my condo, but now it is very zen with lots of art work on the walls.
So many times my dear friend and private therapist (that would be Vivian Tyler) prescribed a visit to her favorite “therapy center” (that would be Home Goods) as a place to “escape it all” when the world starts moving too fast and producing too much stress! She would say “just go in there hon, look around, touch the merchandise, buy a candle!”). She is so right..you can find peace in Home Goods!
I will never forget my visit , when I realized how often my dear friend took her own advice….(“buy a candle”)…
Viv has the largest candle collection I have ever seen, and the most original “storage center” for her many different cylinder-shaped blocks of fragrant wax.
Smells so good! 🙂
I absolutely love that store but dread going often because of the unplanned spending that bnb usually happens lol. Thanks for reading my blog.
