I’m glad I made the choice.
Back in 1997.
I had doubts.
Often.
Big fears.
A fish out of water.
It was pretty rough.
Would I cut in?
Yes. It’s hard work.
Challenging.
Grueling, at times.
Even, maddening.
But, it touches my soul.
In a different way.
There’s no doubt about it.
Communication is key.
Being a nurse has helped me to appreciate life.
Even more.
The highs.
The lows.
The sunrises.
The sunsets.
Life.
Death.
Healings.
Tragedies.
Fun times.
The need to live urgently.
But, I also get a chance to educate.
Encourage.
And, be empathetic.
Always striving to be better.
Being human.
The love I have for my colleagues.
Can’t be contained.
We see it when we glance at each other.
Or, nod.
Or, hug.
Or, say nothing.
We know.
Already.
That caring.
For others, isn’t a given.
It’s a gift.
And YOU are truly a GIFT, Ms. Viv😍
Thanks, Catherine, you, too.
